spicy is a myth according to Nalin (pictured

an Indian and Sri Lankan restaurant in
“We serve spicy food on request, but
generally our food is not spicy at all,” Nalin says, adding that “dishes are tailored according to the level of spice requested.”
Nalin and his family took over Shavans Pinewood in November 2016. And, in the space of just 18 months, it has become the leader in fine dining Indian and Sri Lankan style cuisine in the south-eastern suburbs.
Nalin aims to merge fine dining with warm,
homely meals, stating: “We offer a massive
range of authentic Indian food, just like home
cooked meals.” The extensive menu offers all the popular Indian dishes including butter chicken and lamb rogan josh, as well as the most popular Sri Lankan dish, kottu roti.
“My background is in IT but this is my passion. I love cooking, so I am following my passion,” Nalin said. In the spirit of a true family business, Nalin’s son and daughter are both members of the front staff. A 90-seat restaurant, Shavans Pinewood is open for dinner six days a week and lunch from Thursday to Sunday from noon to 3pm.
Customers can enjoy an all-youcan-eat Sri Lankan lunch buffet including unlimited helpings of the delicious hoppers on Saturdays, and the mouthwatering North Indian buffet, including two of the most popular South Indian dishes, wada and dosa, on Sundays.
There’s a host of other dining options including a three-course business lunch and special lunch set menus on week days, along with a home delivery service.

Shavans Pinewood maintains high standards in ambience, hygiene, cleanliness and, of course, succulent, tasty food.
“We want our customers to experience the fine dining and ambience that we have created for them,” Nalin concluded.
